About Cali-Colombia
Cali in South West Colombia , 975 m/3,200 ft above sea level; population (2005) 2,850,000; local temperature is 23C to 29C . Cali was founded 1536. It's a diverse region of coast, foothills and the Andean cordillera. It's a rich archaeological area, as well as culturally diverse. It has textile, sugar, and engineering industries, and is the commercial center of a rich and beautiful farming area.How to Getting There:
Getting to Cali is very easy, a flight from Miami take just two hours, just contact your travel agency. Domestic and international flights use Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Airport (CLO) 10 mi ( 16 km ) north of the city. There are taxis and shuttles into the city. Bus service to and from Bogota , Cartagena , Medellín, Pasto and Popayan . Local buses serve the city and suburbs.
When to visit Cali :
Colombia 's climate varies little throughout the year. Almost all the year is summer time. We have two season. You can expect a a sunny season called summer( 26 - 30 C ), and a wet season called winter( 15 - 27 C ). The Andean highland, where Cali is located, has two dry seasons, from December to March and again in July and August. Cali 's average temperature is 26° C ( 78.8°F ), that's what it's called the city of the ever last summer, so whenever is good time to visit Cali .
Places to visit and Things to do in Cali :
- Church - La Merced is a beautiful colonial cathedral on the downtown. It is Cali 's oldest church ·
- Museum de Arte Colonial , placed in the monastery adjoining the cathedral, displays mainly colonial religious art.
- Museum Arqueológico displays pre-Colombian pottery and artifacts from the various indigenous groups of the area.
- Museum del Oro exhibits gold items from the Calima indians culture.
- Museum de Arte Moderno La Tertulia displays modern art, sculpture, photography and a variety of art expressions.
- San Antonio Church , located atop a hill near the city center, offers a fine view of Cali , it is a nice place to visit in the Cali´s warm nights.
- Teatro Experimental de Cali (TEC) began Colombia 's national theatre. It is the most important expression of the Colombian theater.
- Sugar Cane Museum. Plaza de Toros de Cañaveralejo bullfighting ring.

- Natural Science Museum with exhibits of fauna, ethnological samples and insects of the region.
- Salsotecas abound on the northern side of the river, particularly in the Juanchito suburb. Night tours in chivas ( typical cars with music, where the people may dance while have a ride around the city)last about five hours and will get you into a number of hot salsa spots
- Feria de Cali from December 25 through New Years with parades, bullfights, salsa events, and the most important " hundreds of beautiful women".
Places to visit and Things to do on the outskirts of Cali :
- Las Tres Cruces are the three crosses on the mountain top beside the city, a pilgrimage during holly week. · Farallones de Cali - Natural Park , a mountain park with diverse vegetation and wildlife offers day excursions or hiking to Reserva Natural Hato Viejo where you'll find lodging, food and guides to the park.
- Haciendas - Ancient Farms , belonging to the sugar barons, and now open as museums to see sugar cultivation and process. Hacienda Cañas Gordas is on the southern border of the city. It is considered the most beautiful of colonial homes and here you'll see period furnishings and objects. Two are about 40 km northeast of Cali : Hacienda El Paraiso - History Hacienda Piedechinche .
- Parque Arqueológico De Tierradentro and Parque Arqueológico De San Augustín . Two don't miss sights are the archaeological sites of pre-Columbian civilizations. Both are considered sacred sites and contain with ancient monuments, statuary, tombs and burial mounds.
